While you are building your portfolio, besides learning correct drawing nomenclature and symbol use, you'll be learning the basics of:
- Breaking down a script
- Set construction techniques and common building materials.
- Fundamentals of cameras and lens optics
- Scaling from photographs and artwork
- Working on a sound stage
- Using photographic and painted backings
- Set requirements for common special effects shots

In addition, you will also gain access to the Community Lounge which is only for students, where you can connect with other students and ask questions.
Each Wednesday evening we have a live Zoom session where you can ask questions or get your drawings evaluated. These are recorded and posted on the website in case you can't attend in person.
You also get 2 hours of 1-on-1 coaching time with me to discuss anything you want, or have me critique your portfolio drawings.
The goal is for you to gain the basic knowledge of film set design and to create a set of industry-standard, vetted set drawings that you can use to get a job in a studio Art Department. The portfolio isn't a requirement but it will go a long way in helping to get that first job on a production or film.
